GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
A Community Need for Over Half a Century
The Armory at Brighton Cultural Center has been more than fifty years in the making. Brighton’s opera house, once the city’s cultural arts center, burned down in 1955. Since then, residents have traveled to neighboring towns for cultural enrichment or attended local events cobbled together from space found in churches, schools and other venues.
In 2002, the city renewed its commitment to Brighton’s core by establishing a downtown reinvestment program, with the Armory and a new library serving as catalyst projects. As the most significant cultural initiative in Brighton’s history, the Armory promises to draw audiences from throughout the region. It also presents a unique opportunity to preserve local history, greatly increase arts programming to a diverse audience, enhance community pride and spark new entrepreneurial business activity in the downtown area.
Add to the Momentum
The heART of Brighton capital campaign, a fundraising initiative of the Performing Arts Council of Brighton, is going strong. Fundraising for building renovations has been underway all year, and more than 100 households, 30 local businesses and three foundations have contributed to date. Contributions of any size are much appreciated and can be completed online. All contributions are tax deductible and eligible for state tax credits. Personalized engraved bricks are for sale, priced at $125 and $250, depending on the size. Bricks purchased at the Armory box office or via mail by Nov. 13 will be installed by the holidays.
All contributions are eligible for state tax credits through the Colorado Enterprise Zone program. |
